Since its founding in 1904, the oldest private college association in the nation has evolved from a social club for college presidents to a dynamic advocacy organization representing the interests of private colleges and universities in the policy arena. With a state wide membership of 58 institutions, the Federation provides a unified voice for the independent sector of higher education in Illinois .

Founded in 1956 and incorporated in 1972, the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (cIcu) is a statewide association representing the public policy interests of the chief executives of more than 100 independent (private, not-for-profit) colleges and universities in New York State . Although not a government agency, cIcu received its charter from the State Board of Regents. Its mission is to develop consensus among a diverse membership and to advance higher education public policy. The Commission is the formal organizational liaison with the New York State Board of Regents, the State Commissioner of Education, and the chancellors of the State University (SUNY) and City University (CUNY); and with the proprietary sector. The Commission is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of chief executive officers or institutional trustees of member campuses and reflects the diversity of the cIcu membership in terms of institutional type, size, and geographic location.

Dan Buckley currently serves as the Managing Director of Special Risk at Gallagher Special Risk, overseeing all of Gallagher’s Intercollegiate Sports, K-12 Student Accident & Special Risk accounts as well as assisting the Division President with strategic planning and growth for the company. Having previously served as Senior Vice President, Vice President, and Assistant Vice President and Senior Account Executive for Sports & Special Risk products, Dan remains dedicated to assisting his client schools in all aspects of their insurance programs including policy renewal and general administration. Competing as a Division I wrestler during college, Dan is well-versed in collegiate sports, student accident, sports injuries and sports insurance. Since Dan joined Gallagher, the Gallagher Special Risk team has grown from just over a dozen clients to more than 5,000 Policyholders, 400 Intercollegiate Sports & Special Risk Programs. Included in Gallagher’s 400+ Intercollegiate Athletic clients are more than 90 NCAA Division I Institutions. Dan and his team have made Gallagher an industry leader on all lines of sports & special risk insurance.

CABMA, the College Athletic Business Management Association, is an organization devoted to the establishment, maintenance and implementation of the highest standards of integrity and efficiency in the scope, policies and procedures involved in the management and administration of business in the athletics departments and associations of colleges and universities.

The mission of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association is to enhance the quality of health care provided by certified athletic trainers and to advance the athletic training profession. The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) is the professional membership association for certified athletic trainers and others who support the athletic training profession. Founded in 1950, the NATA has grown to more than 35,000 members worldwide today. The majority of certified athletic trainers choose to be members of the NATA – to support their profession, and to receive a broad array of membership benefits.

LAICU, as the public policy association, represents the 10 regionally accredited private four-year colleges in Louisiana in both state and federal public policy arenas as well as with the Louisiana State Board of Regents, its member systems of public post secondary education, the K-12 State Department of Education, and the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. LAICU's major functions include advocacy, research and information, and coordination of collaborative activities of the independent institutions. The Board of Directors is composed of the presidents from each of the member institutions.

Founded in 1932, the Connecticut Conference of Colleges (CCIC) represents seventeen accredited nonprofit independent colleges and universities in Connecticut . These institutions are bound by a common commitment to quality instruction and dedicated to collaborative efforts that strengthen the independent sector of higher education in Connecticut . CCIC serves its member institutions through government relations, public policy development, research analysis, communications and coordinated member services.

Established in 1967 by college and university presidents, Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts ( AICUM) consists of 55 degree-granting, accredited independent, or private, colleges and universities in the Commonwealth. AICUM is the leading voice on public policy matters relating to independent higher education in Massachusetts . AICUM works closely with its member institutions to preserve and strengthen higher education; provide advocacy for need-based financial aid for Massachusetts students; help create a climate in the state in which the resources of privately supported higher education are fully leveraged; address state and Federal legislative and regulatory issues; and bring about a greater understanding of the impact and contributions of the independent colleges and universities in the Commonwealth.
